Shanti Foster![]() Shanti was born inside the capital beltway and raised surrounded by music. She sang before she talked and began composing music not long after that. Although she played the violin, clarinet, sax, and sang in a number of choruses, bands and orchestras, her real love was playing the guitar and singing folk music. In the early nineties, she moved to Tucson where she met Tom Woolley. They played informally together for a while and eventually joined with Jim Lipson and Kathy Budway to form Somos. As a duo, Kathy and Shanti recorded an album of original songs called Time to Move On. Shanti now plays with the folk band Fat River. Shanti is a full partner on the Barrio Jam project and plays regularly with the acoustic Wayback quartet. Shanti has appeared on more than 12 albums Including Wendy Adams's album Sorry Baby, Coppermoon's up-coming album, and Hank Childers' album Waiting for the Moon. |
